Artists and Craftspeople in Gloucestershire

There's a vibrant and flourishing Arts scene in Gloucestershire, with contemporary craftspeople working in a county where William Morris helped to establish the Arts and Crafts movement. Morris famously said "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful". Examples of Arts and Crafts work can be seen at Cheltenham Art Gallery.

Today there are lots of different ways of gaining access to contemporary crafts. You could walk the fascinating Sculpture Trail in the Forest and see the Giant's chair, visit the "Open Studios" schemes when they're on in the Stroud Valleys or the Forest, visit the Painswick Gallery to see work by the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, sip a coffee at Brewery Arts in Cirencester, visit Nature in Art to see the best of wildlife art in an elegant setting.

The Artists and Craftspeople in Gloucestershire brochure has a smart yellow cover and is available from Gloucestershire Tourism and local TICs. Phone us on +44 (0) 1452 425673, fax us on +44 (0) 1452 425356 or email us at tourism@gloucestershire.gov.uk to find out more.
